In and around Hoenderloo
The beautiful village Hoenderloo is located on a central location at the Veluwe, at only 3 km (on foot/by bike) from Het Lierderholt. The village is worth a visit for all nature- and art lover. The forests around Hoenderloo are accessible all year long. You will be surprised by the diversity and wonderful colours.
One of the entrances to National Park De Hoge Veluwe is located in Hoenderloo. The park is currently approx. 5.400 hectares and covers about 5% of the Veluwe. It is the largest lowland site in Northwestern Europe. During your visit you can make use of the free white bikes. At the Hoge Veluwe you will find cultural historical elements, architecture and visual arts. In the park you will find the Museoner, Jachthuis Sint-Hubertus and the famous Kröller-Müller Museum. If you cycle, walk or ride through Hoenderloo and notice a long line of people on the sidewalk, then you have found Ijs van Co! Jachthuis Sint-Hubertus is definitely worth a visit. In 1914 the couple Kröller-Müller decided to build a country house on their recently acquired De Hoge Veluwe estate. The famous architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage was responsible for its design. He designed not only the house, but also the interior, the furniture, the gardens and even a bridge. He created a coherent whole: a ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’.Visit website
The Kröller-Müller museum is a museum of modern art. In this museum you will find the second largest Van Gogh-collection of the world: almost 90 paintings and more than 180 drawings. In the Van Gogh gallery you can admire approx. 40 masterpieces by Vincent van Gogh. You will also see masterpieces by modern artists such as Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, Pablo Picasso and Piet Mondriaan. Brochures are available at the reception.Visit website
